Weekly System — v1.0 — Cairo, EG

Mohamed's Operating Schedule

A realistic, repeatable weekly rhythm — built around a 3-day office / 2-day WFH job, gym, prayer, and steady growth as a .NET developer. Designed to be followed at 80% consistency, not perfection. All times are 24-hour format and are targets, not laws — bend them before you break them.

Gradual Sleep Shift — 1:00 AM → 11:00–11:30 PM

Shifting bedtime by 30 minutes every two weeks is sustainable; jumping straight to 11 PM tonight is not — you'd just lie awake. Follow the phases in order, stay in each one until it feels normal, then move on.

Weeks 1–2
12:30–01:00Bedtime
Wake at Fajr, pray, then back to sleep. Full wake ~07:30.
Weeks 3–4
00:00–00:30Bedtime
Wake at Fajr, pray, then back to sleep. Full wake ~07:00.
Weeks 5–6
23:30–00:00Bedtime
Wake at Fajr, pray, short optional rest. Full wake ~06:30.
Week 7+
23:00–23:30Bedtime
Wake at or shortly after Fajr. Full wake by 06:00.
Coach's note — Fajr in Cairo can be as early as ~04:00 in summer and ~05:20 in winter. If Fajr lands very early, praying and going back to sleep until your real wake time is completely fine — 7–8 hours of actual sleep matters more for muscle growth, focus, and mood than the exact clock time you get up. Check a prayer-times app weekly so your blocks stay accurate through the seasons.

Phone & Focus Rules

You don't need a perfect no-phone life — you need fewer open doors to Reels at 11 PM. Four core rules, plus two habits that make them stick.

// phone_rules.yaml
no_phone_after_waking: true # first 30 min = Fajr, water, stretch — not a feed
no_phone_before_sleep: true # last 30 min = wind-down, not a feed
social_media_daily_cap: "45–60 min" # set an OS-level app limit, don't rely on willpower
phone_free_zones: [gym, prayer, meals, study_blocks]

What "On Track" Looks Like

Daily Minimums (Sun–Wed, Thu)

  • 45–60 min technical learning — .NET, Design Patterns, System Design
  • 30 min English — mostly passive, via commute or a dedicated block
  • 30 min reading
  • Gym 4–5x per week, ~20:30–21:30
  • 5 prayers, flexible timing around work

Weekly Rhythm

  • Sunday & Thursday mornings — deepest technical study of the week
  • Friday — Jumu'ah, family, optional bonus learning only
  • Saturday — fully flexible, family-first, no learning quota
  • Screen time — review every Saturday night, aim to trend down monthly
  • Sleep — follow the 4-phase shift in section 03, don't skip phases
